Tuesday June 14 B Day
This Sunday is Juneteenth, a day of celebration where we acknowledge the day that we truly became “the land of the free” for all people, including people of color. More specifically, this day commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.
As a school community, we are committed to promoting an environment of inclusivity and support. We hope you take some time on Monday to reflect on the importance of this holiday and to continue the nation’s collective work towards true equality and justice for all.
