K-12 Art Department

The K-12 Art Department of the Northport-East Northport Schools.

We are six elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York State.

The K-12 Art Department has adapted from the New York State Education Department, a set of Standards for all students in our schools.

Look at all the prestigious Student Art Awards students have received from 1994 – 2009 in local, State and National competitions.

Katie Atkinson next to her art work at the 2009-2010 Congressional Art Award competition. Katie won the Congressional Award and her art work will be hung in the Hall of Congress in Washington, D.C. for the entire year. Go to the Awards site.

Starting with 2007, the Art Department is posting the Departmental Awards given to outstanding students by the staff of the Art Department. These deserving students receive recognition at the Annual June High School Awards ceremony.

The Art Departments progress toward the school district sponsored Literacy project.

Staff members have started to electronically gather Exemplars from the standards to use as benchmarks for success.

This twelve foot linear sculpture serves as a monument dedicated to the memory of fellow student Jackie Kerrigan. Designed and built by Richard Nunziato's Sculpture II classes in 1991.
